Christian Bowie, known commonly in the spoken word world, as The Prince of Poetry is an artist who makes listeners feel his words and not just hear them. With a smooth sound and a cadence so rhythmic, The Prince of Poetry is becoming more than just a spoken word artist- he is evolving into the embodiment of love, healing, mental power, and art.
The evolution from a Chicago boy with aspirations of being a hip hop rapper, to the emergence of a King, clothed as a spoken word artist, The Prince of Poetry’s lyrical genius was far too influencing to risk being lost behind a beat. A rhapsodic conglomerate with the the lyrical word play of Notorious B.I.G, the story telling abilities of Tupac Shakur and the conscience content of Lauryn Hill and Common Sense, The Prince of Poetry refused to abandon the influences of Langston Hughes, Nikki Giovanni, Maya Angelou, and the Last Poets.
Understanding not only the power of his voice but the impact of his words, The Prince of Poetry has not only been a performing poet for the last 14 years, he has impacted his city through mentorship, partnerships with organizations such as JPMorgan Chase Bank, The American Heart Association, and the Howard Brown Health Organization. He is also the Founder and President of Hot Chocolate Poetry, Inc. a non-profit organization focused on philantropic works throughout the city of Chicago with a focus on increasing exposure of the arts.
Financial advisor and Insurance Broker by day, Christian Bowie is The Prince of Poetry. 2018’s National Spoken Word Award winner for Rising star of the Year, and 2019’s nominee for Best Open mic of the year and Best male poet and soon to be a common name not just in the Spoken word community but the world as a whole.
