From Prison To Hitmaker it’s All Been Krazy: By Matthew Corbin
From the streets, to prison, to one of the hottest artists right now Krazy Obilla has come a long way. Inspired by the Hip Hop of 90’s artists like Nas and DMX, the rapper from Orangeburg, SC is truly paving his way in the rap game. It also helped to have brothers that fell in love with rap early on leaving Obilla to be a student of the rap game for as long as he could remember. The hard upbringing that included an absent father, a mother that died when he was young and a drug infested neighborhood helped steer the rapper to another life. “There is no NFL and no NBA; there are no role models in my neighborhood” said Obila. Listening to the music it’s clear that he’s putting together conscious bars with infectious beats and a smooth delivery that has caught the eyes of many.
Krazy Obilla has made appearances at SXSW as well as many other popular festivals. Tracks such as “The Situation” and “Rob Atlanta” are the most famous tracks with “Rob Atlanta” really propelling the artist to new heights. These two tracks highlight the range of Obilla as “The Situation” is more of a story with a somber beat delivering a message about the situation and “Rob Atlanta” has raw lyricism, a catchy hook and a flow that separates Obilla from the rest. The video for “Rob Atlanta” has over 30,000 views on YouTube to date as the numbers continue to climb because the track is contagious. From #7 hits on iHeart Radio to BET appearances, to performances with guys such as DMX, 21 Savage, and Fetty Wap, Obilla has already shown that he this versatile threat is sure to remain a staple in the game for a long time.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
